Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) (Camanche 38)

Description

Amundsen Science’s state of the art 35 kVA observation or Semi Work Class Comanche 38 ROV (Remote Operated Vehicle) from Forum Energy Technologies is a fully equipped submersible capable of reaching depths of up to 3000m; upgradable to 6000m. This vehicle weighs up to 1500kg and can carry payloads of 285kg in its current configuration. The ROV is not connected to any cumbersome tether-management system (i.e. free-flying ROV) and can be adapted to many mission types. Capable of producing 260kgf of thrust in four axes, Amundsen Science’s Comanche 38 can combat the strongest of ocean currents with ease.

Technical specifications

The Comanche 38 is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment to facilitate the science community in any research endeavor. This ROV is equipped with two ORION 7P and 7R Manipulators, 12 station Sub Atlantic and Schilling valve packs utilizing a 15kW HPU/Hydraulic Power Unit with CARDEV filter. It is also equipped with the state of the art navigation and positioning system (Super SeaKing Sonar and Teledyne Tasman Doppler velocity Log), 3 scientific cameras, including Insite Pacific’s Mini Zeus MKIII High-Definition CMOS color zoom video camera, SubC imaging 1Cam Alpha and Bowtech Surveyor SD, and 2 tooling cameras. The Comanche 38 has 2 Bowtech 5000 LEDs and 4 DSPL LSL-2000 LEDs permitting clear visibility under any condition. Additionally, Amundsen Science has equipped their science ROV with an exceptional skid, containing 2 hydraulically manipulated trays, 8 sample boxes and 12 push cores allowing for a large and secure scientific payload.
